Krista's Quilt

I was the small group leader of a HS girl's Bible Study at my church from 2005-2007. My girls all graduated last May. For their graduation present I offered to teach them how to make a T-shirt quilt. It was a great way to get one on one time with each of the girls before they left for college. Here is Krista's quilt.

Macy & Riley's quilts

I made each of my nieces a quilt for Christmas 2007. I used 30's reproduction fabrics. The pattern is from Terry Atkinson's book "Coffee Hour." Here they are once the tops were pieced.

Kathy's finished quilt

Here is the final project. Kathy loves her quilt. The quilter used a Baptist fan quilting pattern which keeps your eye moving throughout the whole quilt. Is was proudly on display at Harper's for 2 months during the fall.

Brooke's Quilt

I made my two neices quilts for Christmas and I'm working on this one for Brooke (My brother's girlfriend's daughter) as a late Birthday present (Jan b-day). Brooke loves Japanese culture and wanted Asian fabrics. I used the yellow brick road pattern by Terry Atkinson (one of my favorite designers). I dropped the quilt off last week at the quilter's house. It should be done quickly and then will be displayed at Harper's in Overland Park for 2 months.

Baby Eden

This quilt is for baby Eden. My good friend Jennifer has decorated the nursery with a whimsical Dr. Suess theme. This batik quilt will tie in well. It is at the quilter and should be done before Christmas.

Scrappy Log Cabinish

Here is a quilt from around 1996. I took a class with my mom. The pattern has a log cabin feel but is much easier and uses scraps. I am going to donate this quilt to a shelter that helps abused moms.

Itasca Choir

This is an old one (1997). I taught in Itasca, IL for one year. At the end of the year I had my choir students autograph this quilt. I used Moda Marbles.

Kathy's Quilt

These are all Kaffe fabrics. The pattern I used is called Slide Show. I'm making this quilt for my great friend Kathy. It is currently finished and on display at Harper's Quilt Store in Overland Park, KS. The end project is stunning, but the process was very tedious.

Millenium Quilt

This is my millenium quilt...yes I know it is already 2007. If you are a quilter you understand that sometimes projects get set aside for awhile. I started collecting fabrics for this quilt in 1999. I bought lots of fat quarters as well as swapped fabrics with 3 other quilters who wanted to make a millenium quilt. I think I'm the only one who has completed the project so far.

I designed this quilt myself. I love color and thought it would be wonderful to showcase the colors of the rainbow on the diagonal. I sketched the entire quilt out and colored each rectangle on graph paper. This was crucial to successfully sew all of the rectangles in the right places (I still had to rip a few seams out along the way).

Fabric has changed a lot in the last 8 years. In 1999 and 2000 it was almost impossible to find orange fabrics. Now I see orange and brights everywhere. Most of the fabrics in the quilt were purchased from 1999-2000 but as I worked on the project I added in some additional fabrics. Along the way I had some shoulder problems that prevented me from cutting (and often sewing at all). I paid someone at a quilt store $60 to cut all of the fabric into rectangles. Some would say I spent an outrageous amount on labor, but I never would have completed this quilt without the expense.

I finally had a chunk of time to finish putting the whole top together in summer 2006. I had to wait until this spring (2007) to save enough money to have it machine quilted. I picked it up from the quilter on June 1st and all I have left to do is the binding. You may not be able to see the detail in the picture, but the quilter changed the color of thread to match each color strip of fabric down the quilt.

Wyatt's Quilt

This is another quilt I have on display at a quilt store in Belton, MO. I am making it for my new nephew Wyatt. I created the pattern myself to feature the carousel animals. The pattern is selling for $6 at the store. It is my first attempt at writing a pattern. I design most of my quilts. One day I hope to publish patterns regularly.

I will start with two of my current favorite quilts. These two quilts are called "Mommy and Me" and were made to display at Harper's quilt store in Overland Park. It was a huge honor for me to have my quilts hung in the store. The pattern is found in the book "Open Another Can of Worms"

My husband and I are planning to have kids in the near future so the larger quilt will be a throw for me to use in the nursery and the smaller to be used by the baby. I plan on decorating the nursery in batiks.
